儒家的礼乐观和乐教思想告诉人们，音乐源于人心，人心又能被音乐所触动。国家政治稳定的关键在于人心安宁祥和。倘若社会太平、世道安稳，人们的情绪自然会安宁快乐，这样的情绪情感反映到音乐上，音乐的风格便是安宁欢快的。反过来讲，安宁欢快的音乐，也能够让人们的情绪稳定、情感谐和，发挥调节社会气氛的作用。所以说，音乐与政治相通，具备维护社会稳定、移风易俗的功能。
Music in an Era of Order Expresses Peace and Delight
Confucian views on rites and music education maintain that music originates from the human mind and moves people. In a country enjoying peace and order, people feel peaceful and harmonious. Within an era of peace and stability, people will naturally be in a peaceful mood, which they express through the idyllic and merry styles of music they create. The idyll and merriness of music contribute to a fine social atmosphere by fostering serenity and mental harmony among the public. Thus, music holds a political function, helping to maintain order and cultivate morals and mores.

如果让一个通晓音乐的人，用现在的乐器演奏古代的音乐，除去其中滞涩不谐和纤弱柔美之音，回归适中、平和、高雅、纯正的风格，从而感动人心、引导和谐风气，这不就是太平盛世的音乐吗？
